Extended Flight Time, High-Speed Performance

The flight capabilities of the Matrice 400 are impressive, offering up to 59 minutes of flight time even with payload, and up to 53 minutes of hovering.

These performance figures make it a reliable tool for long-duration and continuous missions such as search and rescue, firefighting, and large-scale mapping. It can also avoid large obstacles such as buildings and mountains, even at flight speeds of up to 25 m/s.

Multiple Payloads, Multiple Use Cases

The Matrice 400’s strong payload capacity makes it ideal for a wide range of professional applications. With a maximum payload of up to 6 kg, it supports easy switching between single and dual bottom gimbal mounts. It also provides a third gimbal mounting point on the underside for even greater flexibility.

The drone is equipped with four external E-Port V2 interfaces, allowing up to seven payloads to be mounted simultaneously – such as an RGB camera, thermal camera, LiDAR sensor, gas detector, loudspeaker, spotlight, radar, etc.

Depending on the mission, the Matrice 400 can be equipped with the Zenmuse H30 Series, L2, P1, S1 spotlight, V1 speaker, Manifold 3 or even third-party payloads, further expanding its capabilities and fully leveraging the DJI ecosystem.

With an IP54 protection rating, [2] the DJI RC Plus is dustproof and waterproof, enabling reliable operation in adverse weather conditions. Its operating temperature ranges from -20° to 50° C (-4° to 122° F), supporting round-the-clock use even in very hot or cold environments.

Obstacle Detection at High-Voltage Line Level

The Matrice 400’s advanced obstacle detection system combines a rotating LiDAR, high-precision mmWave radar, and color wide-angle low-light sensors, taking detection capabilities to unprecedented levels.

The system can detect even small obstacles, such as high-voltage lines in mountainous terrain — even in darkness. It can “see through” rain and fog to sense its surroundings, providing increased safety in difficult weather conditions.

In-Flight Wireless Video Relay

The Matrice 400 features an integrated image signal relay module. With this configuration, one Matrice 400 can act as a relay drone, flying at higher altitude to provide a signal to a second Matrice 400 operating at a greater distance.

This capability greatly extends the transmission range, making it ideal for search-and-rescue missions as well as inspections in mountainous areas.

Synchronized Aircraft Positioning

The omnidirectional sensing performance provided by the combination of rotating LiDAR, high-precision mmWave radar and color wide-angle low-light sensors equips the Matrice 400 with exceptional positioning capabilities.

It can fly stably close to glass building facades or wind turbine blades and return safely from building edges, mountain bases or bridge sides, even when the home point has not been updated.

During large-scale operations such as search-and-rescue missions, the size of ground objects remains consistent on the remote controller’s screen, reducing the need for frequent zoom adjustments and improving efficiency. In mapping missions, maintaining a constant ground sampling distance (GSD) ensures the accuracy of mapping data.

Takeoff and Landing on Vessels

To meet the requirements of maritime operations, such as patrols or offshore wind farm inspections, the Matrice 400 supports takeoff and landing on vessels.

It supports takeoff from stationary vessels and landing on moving ones, and by recognizing dedicated patterns on the deck, it achieves safe and precise landings.

Easier Automated Operations

Power Line Patrol with Zenmuse L2

When equipped with the Zenmuse L2 LiDAR system, the Matrice 400 can perform automated flights along transmission and distribution power lines.

It uses the rotating LiDAR sensor to detect obstacles in real time and automatically bypass intersecting lines, ensuring smooth and safe flight.

Inclined and Geometric Routes

The Matrice 400 supports the planning and execution of inclined routes and geometric routes via DJI Pilot 2 and DJI FlightHub 2.

Whether for detailed aerial surveys of building facades, slopes or other inclined surfaces, or for collecting mapping data of individual buildings or structures, the Matrice 400 can quickly design suitable routes, ensuring efficient collection of high-accuracy data.
